Lucy J. Abbott SAUGERTIES- Lucy J. Abbott, 90, of Market St. died Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at the Kingston Hospital. Born Feb. 25, 1923 in Kingston she was the daughter of the late Harris and Nina Smith. A Veteran of World War II she proudly served in the US Army WACS. A lifelong resident of Saugerties she was a member of the Saugerties American Legion Post #72. She was a member of the Saugerties Reformed Church for many years where she served on the Church Consistory for several terms. She was a member and former treasurer of the Saugerties Area Council of Churches and was a founding member of the Council Christmas Toy Store. She was a member and former treasure of the Well Thrift Store in Saugerties. Predeceased by her husband James and a son Robert as well as her brother Dederik Smith and sister Nancy Boerker; survivors include a sister Betty Jane Wujick, Carteret, N.J., and three Daughters: Bonnie(Jay) Housman of Grand Forks, N.D., Nina Buckman of Saugerties and Joann(Eric) Angelo of Modesto, Calif. One Son: Bruce Abbott(Jeanne) of Livingston Manor. Ten Grandchildren and seven Great Grandchildren also survive. Her Funeral Procession will form 9:15 a.m. Saturday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc. Cor. Of John & Lafayette Sts. Thence to the Saugerties Reformed Church, Main St., where at 10:00 a.m. her Funeral Service will be conducted. Friends will be received Friday from 2 – 4 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. In leu of flowers donations can be made in Lucy's name to American Post 72, Saugerties, N.Y. or the Saugerties Reformed Church, Saugerties, N.Y.
