Marvin J. White KINGSTON - Marvin “Rocky” White, 89, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2014 at his home in Kingston, after a long illness. Although born and raised in Brooklyn, after serving in the navy during World War II he eventually moved to his beloved rural upstate New York. He could not abide hypocrisy and taught his children the importance of integrity, dedication and hard work. Rocky, a very private person, retired from Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson, after working many years at the former dairy farm on the Hermitage estate near Germantown, NY. After his wife, Frances White, passed away in 1995, Rocky had a loving relationship with the late Dorothy Stoutenburg, who lived in Kingston, and he was close with her deeply caring, supportive family. He is survived by his children: Donald White, Barbara Tiedeman, Dorothy Hembree, Diana White, Jack White, and eight grandchildren. A daughter, Connie White, is deceased. Friends may pay their respects to Marvin’s eldest son at 3302 Glenway Drive in Kensington, MD, 20895.
