Mary M. Bunten PORT EWEN- Mary M. Bunten, 90, of West Main St, Port Ewen, formerly of Ulster Park, died Thursday morning, Sept. 19, 2013 at Archcare at Ferncliff, Rhinebeck with her loving family by her side. Mary was born in Valhalla, N.Y. on Dec. 22, 1922, a daughter of the late Anthony and Henrietta (DeCicco) Bunten. For several years during World War II, Mary was employed as a welder, building Liberty Ships at the Eureka Ship Yard in Newburgh. On Dec. 31, 1944, she married Francis A. Bunten, who died On Sept. 13, 1986. Mary also worked as a food service employee for over ten years at Mother Cabrini in West Park, and as a clerk at Hi-Lo's Market in Port Ewen. She was a devoted mother who enjoyed baby-sitting many of the children from the local area. Mary was also devoted to her catholic faith and very active as a parishioner and choir member at both Sacred Heart Church in Esopus and St. Catherine Laboure Church in Lake Katrine. She was an active member of the Red Hat Society, the Esopus Senior Citizens, the Sunshine Girls, and the Klyne-Esopus Museum. Mary is survived by her loving children, Bonnie Greene of Kingston, Beverly Ann DeLuca and her husband Frank of Orange City, Fla., Daniel F. Bunten and his wife Sue of Port Ewen, Frank A. Bunten and his wife Cheryl of Indianapolis, Ind., and Paula Jean Slater and her husband Brian of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and one sister Betty Radal of Kingston. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. In addition to her late husband, she is also predeceased by one daughter, Mary R. Dean, one brother, Charles DeCicco, one sister, Rose McGowan, two grandsons, and one great-grandson. The funeral procession will form 9 a.m., Tuesday from the Gilpatric-VanVliet Funeral Home, 339 Broadway, Ulster Park, thence to St. Catherine Laboure Church, Lake Katrine, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Rev. John Kearney, celebrant and Rev. Eugene J. Grohe, concelebrant. Burial next to her husband in the family plot will follow at Wiltwyck Rural Cemetery.
