Michael J. O’Donnell CHICHESTER- Michael J. O’Donnell, 74 of Rt. 214 died Monday July 28, 2014 at Sharon Hospital in Conn. He was born Dec. 3, 1939 in Port Ewen son of the late Patrick and Marion Wouters O’Donnell. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy having served from 1958 to 1962. An area resident since 1973, he formerly made his home in Bloomington. Michael was a Machinist, who had been employed by Micronetics for 15 years, and EG & G Rotron for almost 20 years. Mr. O’Donnell was a parishioner of the St. Francis de Sales Church. He was both an active runner and cyclist. Michael had an appreciation for nature, who enjoyed such activities as hunting, both ice fishing and stream fishing, snow showing, and camping in the Adirondack’s. He had a strong sense of family, devoted to his wife, children, and grandchildren, and was always available to assist his son’s with their projects. Surviving are his wife of 52 years Shirley Gallo O’Donnell, two sons: James and his wife Lisa of Shokan, John and his fiance Rebecca Radell of Saugerties, four grandchildren: Melissa, Janet, Robert, and Samantha. two great grandchildren: Kyra Ann and Jaden. His brother: Francis, and three sisters: Marie Kellekian, Patricia Groppuso, and Nancy O’Donnell all of Port Ewen. Many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews also survive. He was predeceased by his siblings John and Dolores McClary. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 12 noon at the St. Francis de Sales Church Main St. Phoenicia. Private burial in St. Francis Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shandaken Ambulance or the St. Francis de Sales Church. Friends will be received on Monday from 10 a.m. to Mass time.
