Peter H. Meurer KINGSTON- Peter H. Meurer, 83 of Browning Terrace, Kingston died Monday March 18, 2013 at Health Alliance Hospital, Broadway Campus. Born March 18, 1930 in Germany, he migrated to this country with his parents the late Fritz and Maria (Palm) Meurer in 1933. Upon graduating from Oceanside High School in Long Island, he entered the United States Marine Corp serving during the conclusion of World War II. Mr. Meurer also served in the New York National Guard. He was a police officer for the Village of Freeport and the New York State Parkway Police until retirement. He relocated to Kingston in 1976. He was a part-time police officer in the Town of Rosendale, a corrections officer for Ulster County and a security officer at the Kingston Hospital. He is a life member of the Joyce-Schirick Post 1386 Veterans of Foreign Wars and Kingston Post 150 American Legion. Mr. Meurer is survived by his wife Lindalee (Kilmer) Meurer of Kingston; his daughter, Joanlynn Benson and her husband Andrew of Kingston; two step-sons, Richard Scott and his wife Brenda of Kerhonkson and William Scott and his wife Sabrina of Poughkeepsie; two sons from a previous marriage, David and Steven Meurer; his grandchildren, Patrick Teetsel, Jr., Sean Teetsel, Victoria Meurer, Kirk Meurer and Jessica Ann Bonelli, Richard Scott, II; great grandchildren, Zachary Power-Teetsel, Isabella Nicole Yonetti and Chloe Bonelli and his K9 companion, Foxy Meurer. A step-son, Frank Scott died previously. Funeral and cremation arrangements are under the guidance of the Joseph V. Rev. David Brechter, Pastor Reformed Church of the Comforter will officiate. Cremation to be held at the Wiltwyck Crematory.
