Rudolph Michael Grotzer Obituary
Rudolph Michael Grotzer CLINTON- Rudolph Michael Grotzer, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at Saint Francis Hospital, following a long illness. He was 77. Rudy was born on June 16, 1935 to Charlotte (Sturm) and Joseph Grotzer. He attended Millbrook High School and The University of New Paltz. Rudy began his professional career of 25 years with IBM in Poughkeepsie. After his transfer to IBM in Kingston, he found his most satisfying position within Management Development. Here he facilitated discussions and experiential exercises , designed to enhance personal and interpersonal potential, through skills and awareness. Rudy had a life long interest in human behavior. He was compelled by the possibilities for growth within himself and inspiring others. He is survived by his beloved children, father to Erika Sturm (Tom Hoff), Heidi (David Spivak), Tina (David Freedman), Curt (Jackie Metrogen), Michael, Christopher, Jeffery Berish, and Daniel Berish; grandfather to six, Tyler, Conor, Annaleise, Slater, Liv, and Mike; great-grandfather to one, Peyton; brother to Charlotte Williams and the late Joseph Grotzer; and uncle to many nieces and nephews. Announcement of Services will follow. In lieu of flowers, please support Rudy's love of animals by donations to your local ASPCA. Rudy will always be remembered for his witty sense of humor, graceful intellect, and the uncanny ability to break out into song at just the appropriate time. He had a love of gardening, healthy foods, and living. But his true love was of the water and sailing …which is where he whispered he was going as he said good bye. Love you Dad, in our hearts you will stay.
