Fortune P. Ryan, Jr. SAUGERTIES- Fortune Peter Ryan, Jr., 76, of Commons Lane died Friday, Dec. 1, 2017, at the Ten Broeck Commons Nursing Home. Born May 18, 1941 in Manhattan, he was the son of the late Fortune Peter Ryan, Sr., and Anne Worrall Ryan. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served during the Vietnam War. Fortune attended Bard College and later in life was recognized throughout the Hudson Valley for his engaging and entertaining tours at various historic homes, including Montgomery Place and Clermont. He spent many years living in Tivoli and Germantown, where he was a well-known member of each community. Fortune was known for his love of literature, history, music, and art, as well as his deep compassion, charming stories, and wry sense of humor. He was a larger-than-life personality whom many loved and no one will forget. Survivors include his beloved daughter, Emily Dixon-Ryan; his longtime companion, Pamela Adriance; and his sister, Cynthia Ryan; along with several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Christopher Ryan and sister, Suzannah Wilkie. His Funeral Service will be held privately. Arrangements are under the direction of the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc.
