Thomas M. Zulick SAUGERTIES -Thomas M. Zulick, age 75, of Esopus Drive, died Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born on May 22, 1938 in Johnson City, N.Y. to the late Michael and Anna Danek Zulick. He graduated in 1961 from Hartwick College and earned a Masters Degree from Adelphi University. A Saugerties area resident since 1962 he was a Mathematics teacher at Saugerties Junior and Senior High School for 27 years. During his years at Saugerties High, he enjoyed performing in productions with the faculty Group II Drama Club and chairing the high school Math Team. He retired in 1989 due to Multiple Sclerosis. Prior to his illness Tom was a member of the Saugerties Athletic Association, an avid golfer and a soccer coach. He is remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, strength and inspiration throughout his 31 year illness. Tom is survived by his wife of 55 years, the former, Elda Gillette, a son, Timothy and his wife, Laura Zulick of Maryland, two daughters, Rebecca and her husband, Dr. William Thompson and Jennifer and her husband Henry Mangione both of Saugerties, six grandchildren, Forrest Hansen, Bradley and Chloe Zulick, and Elliot, Hannah and Sarah Mangione. The family wishes to thank the friends and aides who have taken such wonderful care of Tom over the years. We were fortunate to be able to keep Tom at home where he enjoyed the peaceful views of the Esopus Creek, the wildlife, especially the swans, and the children jumping off the rope swing. His Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home Inc., corner of John and Lafayette Sts., Saugerties. Friends may call Friday, 3 to 5 & 7 to 9 p.m. Family suggests donations in his memory may be made to the Saugerties Public Library or the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
