Walter Mikoleski
ULSTER PARK- Walter Mikoleski, 87, of Ulster Park, died Wednesday, Sept. 12th, 2013 at Dry Harbor Nursing Home in Middle Village, N.Y.
Born Nov. 4th, 1925 in Queens, N.Y. he and his wife Margaret were longtime Ulster Park residents.
Walter was a World War II Veteran who served in the Navy. After the Navy he worked for Pan American Airlines until he retired in 1982. Walter was an avid sports fan and coached his children's and grandchildren's baseball and softball teams. He was involved in the Port Ewen Athletic Association. He was also active in the community, volunteering at People's Place and ushering at UPAC. He was a member of St. Joseph's Parish in Kingston, The VFW Post and The Knights of Colombus in Kingston.
Walter was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Margaret in April of 2012. He is survived by his devoted sons Lawrence Mikoleski , and his wife JoAnn, and William Mikoleski of Queens, N.Y. and daughter-in-law, Theresa Mikoleski of Tillson. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren; Christina Koenig, her husband Richard and sons Michael and Tyler, Patricia Orlando, her husband Frank and son Frank all of Queens, N.Y.; Cynthia Mikoleski and her fiance Corey Packwood of Toledo, Ohio; Denise Mikoleski and her fiance Kris McIntosh and sons Christian and Austin of Tillson; Alison Queen her husband Winston and daughter Ava of Hurley.
Walter also leaves many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors who hold him in their hearts and prayers.
A memorial service will be held at Papavaro's Funeral Home, Maspeth, N.Y., on Sunday Sept. 15th from 5 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Monday, Sept. 16th at 9:45 a.m. at St. Aldalbert's Church in Elmhurst N.Y.
