Douglas R. Blair SAUGERTIES- Douglas R. Blair, 68, passed away suddenly Sunday, March 9, 2014, at his residence. Born June 3, 1945, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late Raymond and Mabel Belcher Blair and had resided in the town of Saugerties for the past five years. Mr. Blair received his bachelors degree from Brown University and a master’s degree from Pace University. He was employed with IBM until his retirement and later at AT&T until his recent retirement. He served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict and was a member of the VFW Post 1386 in Kingston. He was an active member of St. Gregory’s Episcopal Church in Woodstock and sang with the Woodstock Community Choir. A member of the Board of Directors of Lifespring in Saugerties, he had taught an in depth course on Vietnam to the membership. Surviving are his wife, Christine Kennedy Blair, his daughter, Cailin Blair, of Saratoga Springs, his brother, Jeffrey Blair of Sea Ranch, Calif., his sister Wendy Blair of Gardiner, brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and many friends. Friends will gather at St. Gregory Church fellowship hall, 1 to 2 p.m., Saturday, April 5th. At 2 p.m. a memorial service will follow in the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Doug Blair may be made to St. Gregory’s Church, Woodstock Community Choir or Lifespring. Arrangements are under the direction of Lasher Funeral Home, Inc., 100 Tinker St., Woodstock.
