Joan A. Appa KINGSTON- Joan A. Appa, 81 of Hasbrouck Avenue died Friday Feb. 1, 2013 at Health Alliance of the Hudson Valley, Kingston Hospital Campus. Born July 7, 1931 in Kingston, she was a daughter of the late Hughie and Frieda (Dougherty) O'Neil. A court clerk for Ulster County Court, Joan enjoyed attending her grandson's sporting events, traveling to casinos with her good friend Jodi Cooper and family and to New York City. She loved to cook and bake. She is survived by her husband, Michael Appa of Kingston whom she married sixty four years ago on June 27, 1949; her daughters, Fannie Appa and Annmarie Appa both of Kingston; her grandchildren Thomas Appa, Jr. and his girlfriend Marcie Prout and Zachary Tyler; her brother, Ronald “Chick” O'Neil; dear friend, Jackie Hoffay and her canine companion “Chico”. Two sons, Thomas Appa, Sr. and Frank Appa; sisters, Kathleen Grant and Frieda Woerner; brothers John, Hughie and Cornelius “Connie” O'Neil all died previously. Funeral and cremation arrangements are under the guidance of the Joseph V.
