Shirley Laura Aurigemma LAKE KATRINE- Shirley Laura Aurigemma of 1 Commons Drive, Lake Katrine, formerly of Broadway, Esopus, was called to her heavenly homecoming on Tuesday morning, April 16, 2013, at Ten Broeck Commons. She was 86. Shirley was born in Kingston, on Feb. 3, 1927, a daughter of the late John O. and Mary T. (Burger) Beaver. For over 59 years she was the devoted wife of the Hon. Andrew A. Aurigemma, retired Town of Esopus Justice. She was employed as a hairdresser for over 60 years, beginning with Artistic Beauty Salon and then Mickey's Beauty Salon, both on North Front St., Kingston. Shirley loved to bake and cook, and was well known for her cakes and her delicious desserts. Shirley's desserts took such priority that her home-cooked, well balanced meals were always planned around them. Shirley also enjoyed sewing and oil painting, some of which will be on display during calling hours. In addition to her loving husband, she is survived by two daughters, Andrea Whittaker and her husband Joseph of Esopus, and Susan Aurigemma and her husband Donald Reese of Tampa, Fla. ‘Gram' is also survived by five grandchildren, Alex Julien, Christine Scherer, Christopher Whittaker, Alison Black, and Carley Whittaker; and two great-grandchildren, Javier Julien and Scarlett Apple Scherer. One nephew and cousins also survive. She was predeceased by her sister, Mary Jeannine Cole; her first husband, Arthur Barley; and one niece. Funeral arrangements are under the care of the Gilpatric-VanVliet Funeral Home, 339 Broadway, Ulster Park. Shirley's family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral procession will form 9 a.m., Monday from the funeral home, thence to Sacred Heart Church, 1055 Broadway, Esopus, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Fr. Eugene Grohe celebrant. Interment will follow in the family plot at Riverview Cemetery, Port Ewen.
