Geloso, Joseph  
Joseph Geloso Rotterdam Joseph Geloso, 78, at rest Monday, May 18, 2015 after a long illness. Joe was born in Caserta, Italy and was the son of the late Pasquale and Antonia Geloso. He came to the United States in 1955. Joe spent 43 years as the proud owner of Joe's Pizza Place and Restaurant on Hamburg St., Rotterdam, a multi generational family run, local favorite, where Joe was happy to have his customers watch their pizza being made by imported hands. Joe was the beloved husband of 47 years to Mary Ann DeMarco Geloso; beloved father of Lorrie (David) Girard, Darlene Geloso, Michele Geloso; all of Rotterdam, Tawney (Douglas) Gess of Wisconsin, Patricia (Paul) Grassia of Rotterdam, Joann Weber of Illinois, Amy (Terry) Cox of Pennsylvania and the late Robert J. Geloso; beloved brother of Michele (Lucia) Geloso of Fonda and the late Nicola Geloso; beloved brother-in-law of Maria Geloso of Caserta; Joe's pride and joy were his beautiful grandchildren, David Girard Jr., Nicole Rapp, Bridget Craver, Kyle Girard, April and Salvatore Purello, Michaela and Joseph Pisano Jr., Nicholas and Christianna Gess, Elvira, Joseph and Paul Grassia Jr., Isabella Weber, Devan and Derek Cox. Joe is also survived by eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Calling hours will be held Thursday, May 21 from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam. (PLEASE NOTE: Portions of Curry Road will be closed from approximately 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. for the Rotterdam Memorial Day Parade). Funeral services will begin Friday, 10 a.m. at the funeral home, followed at 11 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial at the Church of St. Paul the Apostle, 2733 Albany St. at Kings Rd. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Due to severe allergies within Joe's family, it is strongly requested that no flowers be sent. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Eastern New York, PineWest Plaza, Bldg. 4, Suite 405, Washington Ave. Ext., Albany, NY 12205 or the Schenectady County SPCA, PO Box 9516, Niskayuna, NY 12309, because Joe loved animals so much. Giemza, Carma Jo (Morris)  
Carma Jo (Morris) Giemza Rotterdam On Friday, May 15, 2015, Carma Jo (Morris) Giemza left these earthly bounds to pass into eternity and the everlasting arms of the Lord and Savior. Born June 22, 1953 in Waynesburg, PA to Rex and Mary Jo Morris, a graduate of Schalmont High School and Spencer Business School, Carma had a 35 year career with the NYS Department of Health, followed by a seven-no set time to get up-well deserved retirement years. On February 23, 2002, she married the love of her life, Paul Giemza, settling into a cozy bungalow in Rotterdam. Carma attended the Church of the Nazarene on Consaul Road for over a half century and was a devoted Sunday school teacher to many youngsters during that time. She also was a member and officer of the local Rotterdam TOPS Group for many years. In addition to her parents and husband, Carma is survived by her only sibling and brother, Craig (Barbara); her nephew, Olen; her niece, Angel (Jason); her two great-nephews, Keegun and Kaden; her husband's two children, Mark (Kate) Giemza and Sarah (David) Kline; and a literal multitude of other family and friends. A memorial service in celebration of Carma's life and years on this earth granted to her by her almighty God will be observed on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Church of the Nazarene. A calling hour, at the church, from 10 until 11 a.m. will precede the service. Inurnment will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery. Gifford, William E.  
William E. Gifford Johnstown William E. Gifford, 92, formerly of Johnstown, New York, passed away peacefully on May 19th, 2015 with his wife, Virginia, and his family by his side. He was born in Johnstown, New York on April 8, 1923. William was a Technician Fourth Grade in the United States Army stationed in Manchester, United Kingdom during World War II. William married Virginia M. Donnelly on July 26, 1947, and celebrated life together over 67 years. They raised four sons together, William R. Gifford, Robert B. Gifford, Gerard H. Gifford, James R. Gifford; and have 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his two brothers, Richard Gifford and Raymond Gifford; as well as his sister, Anna Marie Reed. He is survived by his sister, Marlene Frasier; and three daughters-in-law, June, Jan and Gwen Gifford. William and his twin brother, Raymond, founded Fulton County Glass Works in Gloversville, New York in 1946 and operated for 42 years. William and Virginia spent their retirement years in Mayfield, New York, Port Charlotte, Florida and Hendersonville, North Carolina. The last years were spent in Venice, Florida, where they enjoyed golf, bowling and many nights of dancing with friends. A prayer service will take place on Friday, May 29, 2015, 7 p.m. at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville, NY. Calling hours to which relatives and friends are invited to attend will take place on Friday from 5 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will take place at Ferndale Cemetery in Johnstown at the convenience of the family.
