Mabb, Clarence "Duane"  
Clarence 'Duane' Mabb Ballston SpaClarence Duane Mabb passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Sunnyview Rehabilitation Hospital on Thursday, April 16, 2015, after a long illness. Born in Ballston Spa on July 19, 1941, he was the son of Clarence and Geraldine Mabb. After leaving his position at Albany Ladder in the 70s, Duane was the owner and operator of D & B Garage for more than a decade; he owned (or was employed by) several other auto repair shops throughout his career. Duane was gifted in mechanics, and taught his sons and grandson the trade. His greatest joy was taking road trips to York Beach, Maine, with his friends and family, and the many family gatherings that took place at the farm throughout the years. Duane will be especially missed by his canine companion, Rocky, who rarely left his side. He was predeceased by his father, Clarence Mabb, Sr. Duane is survived by his wife of 53 years, Elizabeth (Kelley) Mabb; his son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Dolores Mabb of Ballston Spa; his son and daughter-in-law ,Todd and Abbey Mabb of Melbourne Beach, FL; and his daughter and son-in-law, Kelley (Mabb) and William Will Taylor of Ballston Spa. Duane is also survived by his grandson, Travis Taylor of Ballston Spa (who learned many valuable lessons from his Pa through the years), Travis' fiancee, Alexis Rogers, granddaughter, Katie Lynn Mabb of Gulfport, MS, granddaughter and grandson, Tessa and Jack Mabb of Melbourne Beach, FL, and great-granddaughter, Hailey Brooke Taylor of Ballston Spa, as well as a niece and two nephews. Duane is also survived by his mother, Geraldine (Boyce) Mabb of Ballston Spa; his sister and her husband, Beverly (Mabb) and John Woody Woods of Madison Heights, VA; and brother, Richard Mabb of Clifton Park, NY. Special thanks to Dr. Goykhman, Dave Werner, Jim Hansen, Melissa, Lily, and the 3-East staff at Sunnyview Rehabilitation Hospital, and Dr. Desmond DelGiacco (Saratoga Springs) for their utmost caring and compassion, as well as to Rabbi Robert Kasman for praying with the family at Duane's bedside. A private graveside service will be held at a later date; arrangements are being handled by Compassionate Funeral Care (Saratoga Springs). McCaskill, Joycine "Joy"  
Joycine 'Joy' McCaskill Schenectady Joycine Joy McCaskill, 43, passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2015 at Albany Medical Center. Daughter of the late Marion E. and Joycine (Holloway) McCaskill, Joy was born in Brooklyn, NY and moved to Schenectady at the age of 15. She was a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School and went on to attend Schenectady County Community College. She excelled in athletics throughout her entire life, especially basketball, and enjoyed teaching and mentoring younger athletes. Joy worked in real estate for several years, most of which were spent with Coldwell Banker Prime Properties. She volunteered with Collage and was passionate about her faith. Joy's family and friends will remember her as funny, lively, and vivacious. She was generous and always giving, not to be taken advantage of. She was kind and loving and will be greatly missed. In addition to her parents, Joy was predeceased by her brother, Allen (Moelock) McFarland. Survivors include her son, Moelock Allen McFarland of Niskayuna; brothers, John Lee Holloway of Brooklyn, James and his wife, Nancy of Schenectady, Timothy and his wife, Denise of Florida, Mario McCaskill of Brooklyn; sisters, Sally McFarland of Brooklyn, Tracey McCaskill of North Carolina, Marian McCaskill of Georgia; and one grandchild, Quincey Tener McFarland. She is also survived by her devoted friend, Meg Opal of Schenectady; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, April 21, 2015, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Light's Funeral Home, 1428 State St., Schenectady. A graveside service will follow at 3 p.m. at Vale Cemetery, Brandywine Ave., Schenectady. Memorial donations in Joy's name may be made to a charity of one's choice. Miller, Elizabeth Marie  
Elizabeth Marie Miller Glenmont Elizabeth Marie Miller, age 91, of Quincy, Ct., Glenmont and former Ballston Lake resident, died on Sunday, April 12, 2015. She was born in Pennsylvania on May 8, 1923 and was the daughter of the late Andrew and Mary (Mosier) Collum. Marie, as she preferred to be called, worked at IBM in Binghamton for many years where she met her husband, Roy. They soon relocated to Scotia where they raised their family. In retirement many of their best times were spent playing golf at the Ballston Spa Country Club and then in Florida during the winters. She also loved cooking for her grandsons. She was the beloved wife of the late Frank Leroy Miller; loving mother of Craig (Sandra) Miller of Delmar and Christopher Miller of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; grandmother of David and Matthew Miller, Delmar. A graveside service will be held at a later date at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Dushore, PA.

Pratico, Mary E.  
Mary E. Pratico Schenectady Mary (Longo) Pratico of Consaul Road in Schenectady, passed away peacefully up to Heaven at her home on Friday, April 17, while surrounded by her loving family. Mary was born on April 11, 1926, in Sheppton, Pennsylvania to Mrs. Sarah and Dr. James Longo, Sr. She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Paschal Pratico, in 2003, as well as her son, Philip Pratico, Sr., in 2006. She was also predeceased by her parents and three siblings, James Longo, Jr., John Longo, and Catherine Pezzano; as well as her brother-in-law, Thomas Pratico, Sr.; brother-in-law, Bruno Pezzano; and her sister-in-law, Margaret Longo. She is survived by her children, Mary (Raymond) Peters of Scituate, Massachusetts, James (Leslie) Pratico of Troy, Joann (Bruce) Crounse of Clifton Park, Sara (Joseph) Compoli of Niskayuna, John Pratico of Schenectady, Paul (Elizabeth) Pratico of Niskayuna, and daughter-in-law, Theresa Pratico of Mechanicville; 11 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren; as well as her sister-in-law, Mary M. Pratico of Rexford; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Elinore and Philip Pratico of Rotterdam; and sister-in-law, Mary Longo of Hazleton, Pennsylvania; also survived by many nieces and nephews. Mary attended schools in Pennsylvania and graduated in three years from Bloomsburg State Teachers' College in 1946 with a bachelor of science degree in business education. Mary was very active in college, being a member of the governing board, women's chorus, business education club, and Future Teachers of America organization. In addition, she was election chairman of the community government association, the treasurer of her junior class, chairman of her senior ball publicity committee, advertising chairman of the school newspaper, and even the student fire chief at college. It was at college where Mary met her future husband. Mary was a high school teacher in Pennsylvania prior to her marriage on June 14, 1947. Mary and her husband lived in Schenectady during their marriage, raising their seven children. She also ran an accounting business with her husband for over 45 years. Mary's greatest joy in life was spending time with her adoring family. All who were blessed to have known Mary considered her the kindest, most patient, and loving person. Her children are all so grateful to God to have had Mary as their mother. Her faith was very important to Mary. She was a communicant of St. Paul the Apostle Church in Schenectady for over 50 years. Funeral service, Tuesday morning, 9:45 a.m. from the Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St.and 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours Monday evening, 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Mary will be buried alongside her husband at Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. Mary's family would like to thank Community Hospice of Schenectady for its compassionate care. Though we needed your services for just a brief time, they were greatly appreciated.

Smith, Alice J.  
Alice J. Smith Ballston Spa Alice J. Smith, 79, passed away Friday, April 17, 2015. Born in Hebron, New York on November 11, 1935, she was the daughter of Robert and Theodora Wilson. She was a graduate of St. Mary's School for the Deaf in Buffalo. Alice was active in the deaf community and was named Miss Deaf Albany in 1956. Alice worked at Fleet Bank in Albany for many years, retiring in 1999. She was an avid quilter and many of her family and friends were the recipients of her beautiful quilts. She also enjoyed working in her flower garden. She was predeceased by her husband, Eugene Smith and her brother, James Wilson. Alice is survived by her daughters, Teddy Smith of Ballston Spa and Millie Smith of Ballston Spa; granddaughters, Shayne Vallone, Samantha Vallone and Cady Irwin; brother, John Wilson; and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, April 21 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at the Armer Funeral Home, Inc., 39 East High Street, Ballston Spa. A service will be held at 12 noon. Florence Tozier Valatie, NY Florence Tozier, 81, formerly of Lapp Road in Clifton Park, beloved wife of the late Donald A. Tozier, died on Friday, April 17, 2015 at the Barnwell Nursing Home in Valatie. Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late George and Paraskeve Bulugeorgous Ninas and was a graduate of the former Philip Schuyler High School in Albany. Florence retired after 46 years of dedicated service as the secretary to the Regional Administrator for the Federal Highway Administration in Albany. She was a member of St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church in Albany. Devoted mother of Donald G. (Deborah) Tozier of Mechanicville; sister of John Ninas; cherished grandmother of Donald E. and Andrew C. Tozier; also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral will be private at the convenience of the family. Wolfram, Dietrich A.  
Dietrich A. Wolfram Syracuse Dietrich A. Wolfram, 66, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2015, after an extended illness at the Cottages at Garden Grove in Cicero, NY. Dieter was born in 1949 in the town of Celle, Lower Saxony, Germany. He was the son of the late Adolf and Irmgard Wolfram. In 1954, the family came to the United States passing through the Ellis Island Immigration Station and settled in the Syracuse, NY area. Dieter graduated from LaFayette Central High School in 1967 and then attended Milwaukee School of Engineering. Dieter is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, William and Katherine Wolfram of Schenectady and their three children, Gunter Wolfram of Fayetteville, NC, Peter Wolfram of Kershaw, SC and Sarah Zamani of Schenectady; cousins, Erich Kessler of Woodburn, OR and Dietz Kessler of Chapel Hill, NC. Friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday, April 25 at 11 a.m., at the Fergerson Funeral Home, 215 S. Main St., North Syracuse, NY 13212.
