David J. Cooper SchenectadyDavid J. Cooper, 50, of Grand Blvd. died on July 19, 2013. He was born in Schenectady on September 17, 1962, to Joan M. VanPatten Cooper of Clifton Park and the late Dr. Ralph J. Cooper. David grew up in Clifton Park, attended St. Helen's School, and was an graduate of Shenendehowa High School, class of 1980, and the Bell and Howell Institute of Technology in Ohio. David was an electrical technician for the Xerox Corp. in Albany for more than 28 years. He was a passionate outdoorsman, enjoying camping, fishing and cycling; he was a seasoned fly fisherman who would travel throughout the Adirondacks and the Blue Mountains to enjoy the sport. In addition, David was a technology and music enthusiast of many genres, in particular Frank Zappa and Yes. Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his loving sisters, Sandra (Peter) Brenan of Malta, Karen (Peter) Mantas of Clifton Park, Rebecca (William) O'Donovan of Lake Luzerne, and Roberta (Fred) Thompson of Mechanicville; and his cherished nieces and nephews, Nichole and Sara Mantas, Eric Brenan, Samuel O'Donovan, and Joshua Thompson; also survived by his several cousins and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, July 25 at 9 a.m. at St. Edward the Confessor Church in Clifton Park to celebrate David's life. Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 24 at St. Edward the Confessor Church (569 Clifton Park Center Road in Clifton Park). In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of David may be made to SPARC (3 Mercycare Lane, Guilderland, NY 12084). Arrangements have been entrusted by the family to the Gordon C.
