David J. DiCerce

David J. DiCerce MechanicvilleDavid J. DiCerce, 56, former longtime resident of Mechanicville, died Monday, April 15, at Saratoga Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Troy, March 15, 1957, he was son of the late Daniel and Christine DeMarco DiCerce. Afflicted at birth with Down syndrome, David was raised by his parents, and lived a happy and productive life, attending the Saratoga Bridges workshops over the years. He especially enjoyed food, crosswords puzzles, crafts and watching pro wrestling. David had the thrill of participating in the Special Olympics in such sports as bowling, long jump and equestrian events. David attended church Masses with his parents quite often, and liked singing with the congregation at Assumption-St. Paul Church. Survivors include his brother, Daniel and Terry DiCerce of Mechanicville; sister, Denise and Joe Lembo of Ravena; nieces, Christine DiCerce and Danielle (Tim Larkin) DiCerce both of Mechanicville; along with his many friends at Saratoga Bridges. David's family thanks the staff at Saratoga Hospital for their care and concern and the staff of Saratoga Bridges and their Ruggles Road facility for all they did for David. A funeral Mass will be celebrated noon Monday at All Saints on the Hudson South Church, 121 No. Main St., Mechanicville. Burial with his parents at the Saratoga National Cemetery. Calling hours at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 So. Main St., Mechanicville on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Saratoga Bridges, 16 Saratoga Bridges Blvd., Ballston Spa, 12020 in memory of David J. DiCerce.
