Franklin P. Peeney, Jr. SchenectadyFranklin P. Peeney Jr., 72, of Schenectady, NY passed away at his home in Schenectady on Sunday, January 6, 2013 with his family by his side. Born on October 26, 1940 in Albany, NY, Frank was a lifelong area resident and attended local schools. After graduating high school Frank served in the United States Army. Frank worked as a carpenter in the local area for many years. He was a member of St. Luke's Roman Catholic Church. In his free time, Frank enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing, he was an avid bowler, golfer, and loved to spend time with his grandchildren. He was predeceased by his father and stepmother, Franklin (Elizabeth) Peeney; his mother and stepfather, Alice (Joseph) DePaulo; two children, Franklin III and Cirsten Peeney; and his sister, Barbara Simmons. Survivors include his wife, Josephine Josie MacIsaac Peeney; his son, David (Mary Gilroy) Peeney of Schenectady; three daughters, Grace (Kevin) Nichols of Delanson, Hope (Dan Messersmith) French of Rotterdam, and Christina (Charles) Johnson of Smithfield, KY; four brothers, Lester (Lucy) Peeney of Schenectady, David (Ingrid) Peeney of Loudonville, Mark Peeney of Albany, and John (Diana) Peeney of Port Orange, FL; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated on Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Luke's Roman Catholic Church, State St., Schenectady. Burial will follow at Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to St. Luke's Food Pantry or to Community Hospice of Schenectady.
