George E. Knight Sr.

George E. Knight Sr. Ballston SpaGeorge E. Knight Sr., 75, of Ballston Spa passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, February 7, 2013 at Ellis Hospital. Born in Schenectady on March 13, 1937, he was the son of the late William and Sylvia Monroe Knight. George was a lifelong area resident and attended local schools. He was employed as a truck driver with Buhrmaster Energy Group in Scotia for many years, until his retirement. Pa was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Mr. Knight enjoyed dabbling in car mechanic work and shooting pool in his free time. He was an outdoorsman, known as an avid fisherman and deer hunter. He was also a member of VFW Post 358 Men's Auxiliary of Ballston Spa, American Legion Post 234 of Ballston Spa, and Fraternal Order of the Eagles No. 514 of Schenectady. Married for over 52 years, Mr. Knight was predeceased by his wife, Sarah J. Knight, who died February 14, 2011. He was also predeceased by his daughter, Sarah Knight; his daughter-in-law, Dawn Knight; and siblings, William, Lillian, Conrad, James, Norman, Silvia, Arnold, and Gloria. Survivors include his seven children, George (Mindy) Knight Jr., Michael (Sue) Knight, Margaret Bruhns, Lolly (Charles) Ladd, Suzanna Knight, Joseph Knight, and Richard Knight; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 10 a.m. at The White Funeral Home, 264 Ballston Ave., Scotia, NY. Interment will be in Park View Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. and on Wednesday from 9 to 9:45 a.m. at the funeral home. To express condolences visit
