George M. Donley Ballston LakeGeorge M. Donley, 91, formerly of Ballston Lake, passed away at Kingsway Arms Nursing Center after a brief illness. He was born on August 4, 1922, the son of the late Roy and Florence (McGeogh) Donley. He was a member of the class of 1940 from Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Central Schools. George served in the United States Navy
. He was a Plank Member of the USS Cogswell for the duration of the war, serving in all 12 major South Pacific battles. The Cogswell had the honor of being the first US ship to enter Tokyo Bay for the signing of the first WWII Peace Treaty. George was the transportation supervisor for Mobil Oil Corp., Albany, NY. George was a member of the Hamilton Union Presbyterian Church for over 60 years. He enjoyed his time spent as a church trustee, working with the Boy Scouts, square dancing, water sports, traveling and as a community volunteer. He was also a member of the Exxon Mobil Retirees' Organization. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Doris (Burton) Donley and three children, Bryan (Lesley) Donley of Somerset, WI, Gayle (Bradley) Donahue of Avon Lake, OH and Suzanne (Frank) Pangie of Charlton, NY; eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and greatPapa. He cherished the memories and wonderful times spent with his many friends from Florida and Ballston Lake, NY. Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at the Hamilton Presbyterian Church, 2291 Western Avenue, Guilderland from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Immediately following, a memorial service will be held at 12 p.m. at the church.
