Helen Agnes Michalek

Helen Agnes Michalek GlenvilleHelen Agnes Michalek, 97, passed away Fri- day, March 8, 2013 at home. She was born March 27, 1915 in Westfield, MA, daughter of the late Charles J. and Jennie J. (Kvits- ky) Jedlicka. She has been an area resident since 1945. She graduated from Westfield Teacher's College, Westfield, MA, class of 1937. She was an elementary school teacher at the Scotia-Glenville Schools for 25 years, retiring in 1973. Helen was a member of the Center Glenville Methodist Church and a member of the What-So-Ever Group in the church, Retired Teachers As- sociation of NY State and Sche- nectady County and Onistagra- wa Triangle Mothers of Schenectady. She was a 17-year volunteer for the Red Cross (1977-1994) and was a life mem- ber of the Parent Teacher's Congress and AARP. She was also a church Pie Lady, mem- ber of Glenville YMCA Aqua- robics and senior center mem- ber. On September 14, 1940 she married William A. Michalek in Westfield, MA; he died June 16, 1976. She is survived by her son, Robert L. Michalek and Rita of Glenville; daughter, Holly A. Steussy and Mike of Vienna, VA; grandchildren, Karyn D'Amico (Paul), Kathy Micha- lek, Mark Michalek (Tammy), Amber Kelley (Brandon) and Aimee Steussy; and great-grandchildren, Michelle D'Am- ico, Rachael D'Amico, David D'Amico, Zack Michalek, Ma- son Michalek and Moira Kel- ley. Service will be held Tues- day, March 12, at Center Glen- ville Methodist Church, 171 Bolt Rd., Glenville, NY 12302 at 6 p.m. Burial will be at Pine Hill Cemetery, Westfield, MA.
