Joannes A. VanEekeren SchoharieJoannes A. VanEekeren 50, of St. Rte. #145 Schoharie died suddenly on March 13th in Wilson North Carolina. Joannes was born May 6, 1963 in Glens Falls, NY a son of Wilhelmus Wim and Cootje (Juten) VanEekeren. He attended Schoharie Central School and graduated in the class of 1981. He served his country in the US Marine Corps for 4 years and later with the reserves. Jan worked in the Schoharie County Sheriff's Department as a deputy until working at the NYS Power Authority in Gilboa where he was employed at the time of his death. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local #2104 and enjoyed playing golf in his free time. Survivors include his wife Dianna L. (Delaney) VanEekeren and his children; Shelby Ann VanEekeren, Amy, Ian, Erin, Joel, Kenny and Paul, his sister Marietta VanEekeren and her children Nick and Molly. Jan was predeceased by his son Mark W. deRoziere in March of 2013 and his best friend Michael Rhodes. A visitation period will be held from 10 AM to 12 Noon on Saturday March 29th at the Langan Funeral Home, 327 Main St. Schoharie followed by a prayer service at 12 Noon with Fr. William Gorman, Celebrant of Our Lady of the Valley RC Church, Middleburgh, officiating. Burial will be private. Further information is available at
