John A. Caracciolo SchenectadyJohn A. Caracciolo, 86, passed away on Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at The Avenue Nursing Home after a long illness. Born in Schenectady on July 18, 1926, he was the son of the late Joseph Caracciolo and Rose (Isabella) Caracciolo. John served in the United States Army 106th Infantry Division during World War II
. His specialty was a field lineman. He was a member of the St. Isaac Jogues Post 948 in Schenectady. He worked for the railroad and General Electric Company for many years and attended Siena College. His passions in life included playing golf, skiing, bowling, and working out at the Schenectady YMCA where he was a member for most of his life. He was also a member of the St. John The Evangelist Novena Group. John was predeceased by his sisters, Amelia (Molly) Cercone, and Concetta (Connie) Hilton; brothers, Louis and Frank Caracciolo. Survivors include his sister, Elsie Tebbano of Schenectady; sisters-in-law, Angelina Caracciolo and Mildred Caracciolo of Schenectady; as well as several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Calling hours will be from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Demarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Avenue, Rotterdam, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass at St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church in Schenectady. Burial will follow at St. Anthony's Cemetery in Glenville. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Capital District YMCA in John's name, Attn: Gail Glasser, 465 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205. The family would like to give special thanks to the nurses and staff at The Avenue Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for providing special care to John during his stay.
