Kenneth G. Treiling

Kenneth G. Treiling SlingerlandKenneth G. Treiling passed away at St. Peter's Hospital on May 2, 2013. Ken was born May 29, 1926 in Queens, New York. He was the son of the late Frank and Helen Treiling and was one of five siblings, who all predeceased him; Frank, Jerry, Adelaide and Helen. Ken was a WWII veteran. He was a sergeant in the 90th Infantry, who fought bravely in the Battle of the Bulge. Once the war had ended he returned home and renewed his friendship with Betty Sanborn, who became his sweetheart and who he married June 26, 1948. They enjoyed a wonderful 61 years together, raising their family and making a life built on love, faith and friendship. Ken enjoyed spending time at his residences in Wynantskill, Vero Beach and Friends Lake. Ken worked for New York Telephone Company and retired after 38 years of service to enjoy his time with his family. He enjoyed many hobbies including stamp and coin collecting, refinishing furniture and gardening. Ken loved classical music, volunteering for various charitable organizations, the Adirondacks, and traveling with his beloved Betty. He had a sharp wit, and a deep faith. Ken was predeceased by his wife, Betty, and his son, Ken. He is survived by his children, Kathy Spanner (Jack) of North Carolina, Jeanne Hawkey of Schenectady, Bob Treiling (Colleen) of Glenmont, Mary Treiling of Schenectady and Tom Treiling of Florida. He also is survived by 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren who loved him dearly. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, May 6, 2013 at 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church in Schenectady. There will be no calling hours. Interment will be in the Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville immediately following Mass.
