Noreen Goodwin

Noreen Goodwin Palm Coast, FLNoreen Goodwin passed away at age 93 on October 31, 2012 in Palm Coast, Florida. She was born on January 28, 1919 in Milford, Ontario, Canada, daughter of Mary McConnell and Mark Goodwin. She graduated from Picton High School in 1937 and moved to Toronto to work in the Albert Britnell Book Store and later went to work for the Civil Service Commission. She joined the Canadian Army in 1942, working at the Army Headquarters in Toronto. Noreen traveled to England and lived in London where she worked for Power Samas Machines from 1946-1952. In 1952 she moved to Schenectady, NY and worked in all administrative capacities at the Crippled Children's Hospital, which is now known as Sunnyview Hospital. She served as the manager of admitting and the business office for 15 years and also managed the out-of-patient department. She also served as coordinator of volunteers and administrative assistant to nursing. Noreen became an American citizen in 1957. She retired in April 28, 1980, and as a token for her long dedicated service she was elected by the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors to become an honorary member of the Board of Directors. Noreen returned to Canada to take care of her mother and after her mother's death she arrived in Palm Coast, FL, in 1983. She belonged to the Adirondack Mountain Club and Zonta Club in Albany of which she served as president. She was a hospital volunteer at Halifax Medical Center and University Medical Center in Jacksonville, FL. Noreen was a skier, golfer, gardener, loved to travel and enjoyed an excellent life caring for others. Survivors are a number of neices and nephews in Canada and a lifetime friend, Rita Wilson of Palm Coast, FL. There will be no service or viewing.
