Ray Wilber

Ray Wilber SchoharieRay Wilber, 92, of Barton Hill Road, died Thursday, December 27th at St. Johnsville Nursing Home, where he had resided since April of 2012. Mr. Wilber was born May 10, 1920 in Schoharie, a son of Stephen Albert Wilber and Rhoba (Bullock) Wilber. He attended the Barton Hill Schoolhouse and later, Schoharie Central School. Ray and his family operated a dairy farm for many years on Barton Hill Road until selling the herd in 1982 when he turned his efforts to crop farming. He was a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church of Gallupville and the Schoharie County Farm Bureau. Survivors include his wife, Henrietta (Treichel) Wilber, whom he married on June 2, 1945; two daughters, Carol Ann Wilber and Betty (Richard) Taccone, both of Delanson; one grandson, Michael Ray (Luigia) Taccone and two great-grandsons, Braden and Morgan. He was predeceased by his siblings, Martha Ottman, Flossie Wood, Mabel Armstrong, John Wilber, Stephen Wilber and Leroy Wilber. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, December 30th at Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church, Church Street, Central Bridge, where a visitation will be held from 12 to 1 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be later in Grove Cemetery, Quaker Street. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mr. Wilber to Catskill Area Hospice, 795 E. Main St. Suite #11, Cobleskill, NY 12043.
