Reita C. Askew Ballston SpaReita C. Askew, 88, of Ballston Spa, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2013 after a long battle with diabetes, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Jonesville, January 15, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Rupert and Katherine Humiston. Reita loved traveling and visiting her sister in Florida. She was a member of the Brookline Social Club. She loved bingo and enjoyed all the activities at Maplewood Manor where she resided for the last three years. She was predeceased by her husband, Clarence; daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and David Keister; daughter, Deborah Holmes; son, Philip Askew; and brother, William Humiston. Reita is survived by her children, Gary Askew (Nancy) of Rhode Island, Douglas Askew (Judy) of Ballston Spa, Madeline Waller (Howard) of Ballston Spa, Jeffery Askew of Malta, Charles Askew of Ballston Spa, Gail Askew (Ken) of Ballston Spa, Dennis Askew (Judy) of Rock City Falls and Joseph Askew of Saratoga Springs; sisters, Shirley Dymond of Florida and Elizabeth MacMillin of Ballston Spa; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, July 8 at Armer Funeral Home, Inc., 39 East High Street, Ballston Spa. Burial will follow at Ballston Spa Cemetery. A reception will be held at the Malta Ridge Fire Department on Route 9 in Malta following the service.
