Vincent J. D'Alessandris

Vincent J. D'Alessandris RotterdamVincent J. D'Alessandris, 95, passed away Monday evening, November 12th at his home surrounded by his family. Born in Fonda, NY, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Zannitto) D'Alessandris and a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School. A World War II Army veteran, Vincent participated in the Battle of the Bulge. Employed by General Electric for over 40 years, he retired in 1979. He was a member of the GE Quarter Century Club, and a member and usher at the 4 p.m. Saturday Mass at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church for 50 years. For years Vince enjoyed walking in the Rotterdam mall with his brothers, going to Saratoga Race Course or spending the day at OTB. If he wasn't there, he would watch the horses at home and have all the top picks for the day. A devoted family man, he cherished every moment he spent with his loved ones. It always brightened his day when his great-grandchildren would come for a visit. Vincent lost his heart 12 years ago when his beloved wife, Laura, passed away. He prayed to be with her every day and now we are all at peace knowing they are now together again. Beside his parents, Vincent was predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Laura (Battaglia) D'Alessandris in 2000; his brother, Henry D'Alessandris; and sister, Genevieve Friello. He is survived by his children, Joseph D'Alessandris (Catherine), Vincent D'Alessandris (Barbara), Donald D'Alessandris (Linda) and Lynn D'Alessandris, all of Rotterdam, and Mary Cieszynski (Paul) of Schenectady; a brother, Anthony D'Alessandris, and sister, Nancy Nardini, both of Rotterdam; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday morning, November 16, 2012 at 9:15 a.m. at Bond Funeral Home, Inc., Broadway and Guilderland Ave., Schenectady followed at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 1255 Pleasant Street, Schenectady, NY 12303 where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. A visitation will be held on Thursday evening, November 15th from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment in St Cyril's Cemetery.
