Wanda Kapusta Butrym SchenectadyWanda Kapusta Butrym, 90, of Plymouth Ave., Schenectady, passed away peacefully in her sleep, with her loving daughter by her side on Thursday, March 13, 2014. Wanda was born at home on Hattie St., at the stroke of midnight, June 4, 1923, to John and Adela Kapusta. She is the eldest of five children. She attended Oneida School, and Nott Terrace High School where she played violin in the orchestra. Her family moved to Frantzke Ave. with her grandmother next door with a huge garden between their homes and many animals. Her father worked for the railroad. Wanda worked as a secretary for GE and later a keypunch operator for NYS. In 1957, she married Joseph Butrym. She sang in the choir at St. Mary's Church in Schenectady. Her family had now moved to Park Ave. Wanda became a stay at home mom after her second child was born moving to the house they enjoyed on Plymouth Ave. She was a beautiful, loving, caring, woman who will be extremely missed. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Joseph. Wanda is the beloved mother of Matthew (Diane) Butrym and Theresa Butrym; loving grandmother of Ashley and Matthew Butrym; sister of Edwin (Mary Frances) Kapusta, Kasimer (the late Elaine) Kapusta, the late Rosemarie (Robert) Hickok and A. Anthony (Elyse) Kapusta. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, March 25, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Kazyaka Funeral Home, a service will begin at 6 p.m. with Reverend Richard Carlino officiating.
