William J. Hammond

William J. Hammond RotterdamWilliam J. Ham- mond, 88, of Guilderland passed away Friday, March 1, 2013 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady. Born in Sche- nectady, he was the son of Frank and Joyce (Tal- bot) Hammond. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946. William was employed for the HS Barney Store in Schenectady and after was a draftsman for the Gener- al Electric Company for 36 years, retiring in 1980. He was a member of the GE Quarter Century Club. William also en- joyed his membership in the Shriners, Masons and Rotter- dam Elks. He was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth (Nolan) Ham- mond; his daughter, Susan Lubking (Dan); and one sister, Florence Hammond (Noel); and also a very dear special friend, Alice Jane (Brooks) My- ers. William is survived by one son, Douglas W. Hammond (Judy) of Guilderland; one brother, Edward Hammond of Schenectady; also survived by four grandchildren, Kenneth Hammond (Pamela) of Rotter- dam, Douglas J. Hammond of Albany, Darcy Lubking of Troy and Sarah Lubking of Troy; two great-grandchildren and one niece, Sandra Kortz (Dick). Funeral services will be pri- vate at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours by request. Entombment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park in Colonie.
