Adelaide Keetz SchenectadyAdelaide Marty Keetz, 83, died Sunday, September 1, 2013 at Kingsway Arms Nursing Center. Mrs. Keetz was born February 23, 1930 to the late Douglas and Abbie Boswell Martin and raised on an Adirondack farm in Gabriels, NY. Mrs. Keetz was a 1952 graduate of the College of Mount Saint Vincent in New York City, and she received a master's degree from SUNY Albany in 1976. Mrs. Keetz began her teaching career as a high school business teacher for four years in Greene, NY before marrying Frank Keetz, her husband of 56 years. She returned to teach for 12 years at Mechanicville High School and Shaker High School after her youngest child entered high school. Marty's family was the center and joy of her life. Marty liked people and enjoyed the friendship of fellow members of a local AAUW club. She served on the Niskayuna Co-op Board of Directors for nine years and was a 50-year member of St. Helen's Church, now St. Kateri Tekakwitha Church. In addition to her husband she is survived by four children, Paul (Sheryl) Keetz, Edward (Patricia) Keetz, Anne (Gary) Redmond and Mary Pagones; two sisters, Patricia Manning and Jane Cross; nine grandchildren, Jessica, Jonathan, Erin, Lindsay, Michael, Nicholas, Christopher, Anthony and Katina. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated Wednesday morning at 11 o'clock at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Church, Union Street. Calling hours will be Tuesday evening from 4 until 6 at the Gleason Funeral Home, 730 Union Street. Inurnment will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna. The family wishes to extend their appreciation to the nurses and staff of both Ellis Hospital Neuroscience Center and the D wing of Kingsway Community. Memorial contributions may be made to Maryknoll Missions, PO Box 304, Maryknoll, NY 10545-0302.
