Andrew J. Hatala SchenectadyAndrew J. Hatala, 82, of Schenectady, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, May 4, 2013. Born in Torrington, CT, he was the son of the late John Hatala and Anna Hatala Konopeus. Andrew served in the United States Army during the Korean War, and was then employed with Pennsylvania Truck Lines in Selkirk, NY as a truck driver for over 30 years. He was a past exalted ruler at the Esperance Elks Lodge 2507, a member of the Niskayuna American Legion Post 1092, 40 & 8, and a past member of Ballston Lake Volunteer Fire Dept. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Andrew Hatala; and brothers, John, Joseph and Michael Hatala. Andrew is survived by his daughters, Kathleen Howard, fiance, (Steven Timosevich), and Bonnie Ellsworth; two stepsons, Matthew and Russell Bennett; a brother, Stephen Hatala; sisters, Anna Cruikshank, Mary Wilcox, Anna Barber, Margaret Elwood, Helen Robinson, and Susan Quinn; four grandchildren, Christopher Howard, Heather Meyer, Jennifer Meyer, and Stephen Ellsworth. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 9, at 11:45 a.m. from the Kazyaka Funeral Home, with Rev. Richard Carlino officiating. Interment will follow in Saratoga National Cemetery. Calling hours will be prior to the service from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Andrew may be made to the Fisher House, 113 Holland Ave., Albany, NY 12208.
