Ann P. Betts SchenectadyAnn P. Betts, 88, of Kingsway Village died at home Saturday, May 11, 2013. Mrs. Betts was born in Park Ridge, NJ to the late Thomas and Mildred Swackhamer Duignan and lived in the Schenectady area most of her life. Mrs. Betts was a graduate of Mary Immaculate Hospital School of Nursing in Queens, NY. Mrs. Betts worked as a registered nurse at the former St. Clare's Hospital. She also worked in the same capacity for several area doctors. Mrs. Betts was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church in Schenectady. She was a member of the Church Rosary Society and a Eucharistic Minister. Mrs. Betts was predeceased by her husband, Robert Betts, who died in 1989; a brother, Thomas Duignan; and a great-granddaughter, Mallory Warrick. She is survived by three children, Peter R. Betts of Phoenix, AZ, Dr. David J. Betts of Schenectady and Patricia Clement of Delmar; eight grandchildren, Lindsey Betts, Matthew Clement, Kate Betts, Ashley Betts, Ann Porter, Carolyn Palow, Elizabeth Ray, Courtney Adams; five great-grandchildren, Cameron Callahan, Natalie Warrick, Vance Vogel, James Ray and Emily Porter. Relatives and friends are invited to the funeral which will begin Thursday morning at 10:15 at the Gleason Funeral Home, 730 Union Street and at 11 at St. John the Evangelist Church where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. The funeral home will be open Thursday morning from 9 until 10:15 for those who wish to call. Entombment will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Schenectady, 1411 Union St., Schenectady, NY 12308. The family wishes to thank the staff at Kingsway Village, Community Hospice of Schenectady and Home Instead for all of their kindness.
