Anthony William Palumbo Obituary
Anthony William Palumbo, 95, of Glenville, passed away on Sunday, May 13, 2018.Born in Schenectady on January 27, 1923, he was the son of the late John and Anntoinette (nee: Guarnier) Palumbo. He was raised and educated in Schenectady and graduated from Mont Pleasant High School, Class of 1941. During WWII, Anthony served in the United States Army. He received his basic training in Fort Hood, TX and became an Infantry solider in the South West Pacific Theater, landing with the Water Invasion in New Guinea. Afterwards, Anthony was stationed in Brisbane, Australia. ?On July 30, 1966, Anthony married Wanda Farrell and they made their home in Glenville. Anthony and Wanda enjoyed 38 years of loving marriage until her passing on October 8, 2004. They were members of St. Joseph's Church in Scotia where Anthony also served as a Eucharistic Minister.He enjoyed ballroom dancing and bowling, as well as watching boxing and westerns. In addition to his parents and wife, Anthony was predeceased by a son, Michael Farrell and a brother and sister-in-law, Francis and Amelia Palumbo. Anthony is survived by his sons, Michael Palumbo of Amsterdam and Anthony (Robin) Palumbo of Schenectady; his daughter, Elaine (Karl) Batzinger of Glenville; two grandchildren, Michael (Kristen) Farrell and Joseph (Heather) Batzinger; and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 21 at 9 a.m. at The White Funeral Home, 264 N. Ballston Ave., Scotia followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. to be celebrated at St. Joseph's Church, Second St., Scotia. Entombment with full military honors will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Glenville. The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, May 20th from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the funeral home.To express online condolences, visit www.sbfuneralhome.com.
