Catherine 'Kay' Habanec SchenectadyCatherine Kay Habanec, 91, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, April 16th, with her close family by her side. Kay was born in Schenectady, a daughter of the late Nicola and Anna Ragucci. An independent woman, Kay was a graduate of St. Joseph's Academy and Mildred Elley College. She worked as a secretary for the City of Schenectady's Waste Collection Department until her retirement. Kay was a beautiful person, with a warm smile and a deep love for her daughter and grandchildren. No holiday was complete without her famous pizza and struffoli. She loved crossword puzzles, old movies and vacationing with her family. Kay was a member of the Ladies of Rotterdam Elks and a devoted communicant of St. Joseph's Church. Kay was predeceased by her beloved husband, Robert Habanec; and siblings, Mary, Dominic, Diamante, Jess, Albert, Louis and Frank. Survivors include her loving daughter, DonnaMary Casino and her husband, James; devoted grandchildren, Cara (Michael) Renzi, Robert (Lindsay) Casino and James Casino; brother, Victor (Rose) Ragucci; she is also survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews. Services will be held on Saturday at 8 a.m. from the Ferrari Funeral Home, 1503 Union Street, then to St. Joseph's Church, Lafayette St., where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Interment to follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Schenectady. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Ferrari Funeral Home, Friday evening from 4 to 8 p.m. A service of celebration of Kay's life will begin at 8 p.m. Kay had a deep devotion to her faith.
