Clinton Freemont Merrow AmsterdamClinton Freemont Merrow, 95, of Amsterdam died on Monday, April 21, 2014 at the home of his son in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Mr. Merrow was born on September 19, 1918 in Houlton, Maine, the son of Clinton F. Merrow Sr. and Ada Bither Merrow. He was married to Eileen Cantwell Merrow of Amsterdam on July 17, 1943. She passed away in 1983. Mr. Merrow was a 1941 graduate of Bowdoin College. He was a retired US Army lieutenant colonel having served in the European Theater of Operations during WorldWar II and for over 20 years in the Army Reserve. He was also retired from New York State civil service. Clint was an avid golfer and played at courses all across the country. He was a longtime member of the Antlers Country Club. Throughout his life, his home state of Maine was always a special place for him. He spent time there each summer with his family. He is survived by two daughters, Sandra Breen (and her husband, Michael) of Warwick, Rhode Island, Sharon Schwartzman (and her husband, Ira) of Winslow, Arkansas; and two sons, Scott Merrow (and his wife, Paula) of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Seth Merrow of Amsterdam. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Christopher Frost, Kate Mastrangelo, and Ari, Shawn, and Ryan Schwartzman; as well as eight great-grandchildren. He was always a fun-loving family man, and he will be remembered fondly and truly missed by his family and many, many friends. Services will be private.
