David John Fisher, Jr. Washington, MADavid John Fisher, Jr., 58, of Washington Mountain Road, Washington, MA, died peacefully at his home on Saturday, June 8, 2013, after a long battle with cancer. Born in Schenectady, NY, on January 16, 1955, a son of David J. Fisher, Sr., and Theresa R. O'Leary Fisher, he was educated in Rotterdam, NY and Williamstown schools and was a 1973 graduate of Mount Greylock Regional High School in Williamstown. In 1977 he graduated from Worcester Poly Technical Institute with a bachelor of science degree in civil/structural engineering, and in 1978 received his professional engineering license. Mr. Fisher was last employed as the regional director of engineering at the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, Berkshire Community College, and Greenfield Community College. He had previously worked as an engineer for Percy B. Cotton Associates, and prior to that, for Krofta and for Doucette Associates. Mr. Fisher enjoyed acting with the Berkshire Theater Group, the Berkshire Public Theater, and the Town Players of Pittsfield, and also performed and wrote plays with the Stageblood Murder Mystery Group. He attended the Becket Federated Church and had sung on occasion with the Becket Praise Team. He enjoyed music, singing, and playing the guitar. He was known for his computer expertise and artistic talent. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and riding his motorcycle. Mr. Fisher leaves his wife, the former Paula J. Duby, whom he married August 30, 1992, and his two sons, Mackenzie Fisher, age 19, and Cullen Fisher, age 16, who are both of the Town of Washington. He is also survived by two brothers, Frederick A. Fisher and his wife, Jane of Rhinebeck, NY, and Dennis Fisher and his wife, Lisa of Brooklyn, NY; three sisters, Janet Ottendorf and her husband, Terry of Duanesburg, NY, Susan Lyczynski and her husband, Paul of North Adams, and Nancy Underwood and her husband, Dennis, of Clarksburg, MA; as well as his stepmother, Barbara McConnell Fisher of Pownal, VT; a stepbrother, Jeff Lussier and his wife, Mary; and two stepsisters, Wendy Accetta and her husband, Kurt, and Julie Lussier; and several nieces and nephews, a great-niece, and loving in-laws. He was predeceased by a sister, Ann Marie Fisher. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 13, at 6:30 p.m., at the Becket Federated Church, Main Street, Becket, with the Rev. Kevin C.Smail, Pastor, officiating. Calling hours will be on Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m., at Dery-Foley Funeral Home in Dalton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dana Farber Cancer Institute or to Hospice Care in The Berkshires, both in care of the Funeral Home, 890 East Main Street, Dalton.
