Dolores Lundstrom Obituary

Dolores 'Dee' Schlensker Lundstrom NiskayunaDolores Dee Schlensker Lundstrom passed away on July 18, 2012, at the age of 82. She was born in Schenectady, NY on June 26, 1930, the daughter of the late Frederick Schlensker and his wife, Elizabeth. Dee was a 1948 graduate of Scotia High School. In 1949, she graduated from Mildred Elley business school. Her career began as a secretary at GE Research & Development Center. She married Robert Wentworth and had two children, living in Scotia for over 20 years. In 1976, she married George Lundstrom and they made their home in Rexford. During this time she worked at Woodside Dorp Travel Agency for 19 years, retiring in 1996. Dee was a wonderful mother and proud grandmother. Active in her community throughout her life, she volunteered as a Girl Scout leader and den mother, and was recognized by the PTA with a Lifetime Membership Award. In retirement, Dee and George became avid volunteers for Care-A-Vanners (RV branch of Habitat for Humanity), traveling the East Coast and to Michigan to participate in habitat projects that enabled families to enjoy home ownership. After George's death, Dee continued her dedication to these programs, becoming a support mentor for new home owners. She loved to celebrate life and could be counted on to provide a supportive listening ear or a good laugh. An avid traveler, Dee enjoyed trips around the continental U.S., Alaska, Hawaii, New Zealand/Australia, and several Caribbean islands. When she wasn't traveling, you could be certain to find her enjoying her home, walking the dog, and spending time with family and friends. Predeceased by George in 2001, Dee is survived by her two children, Pamela Wentworth of Batavia, NY, and David (Karen) Wentworth of Scotia, and their children, Chelsey and Kevin. She is also survived by stepchildren, George (Kris) Lundstrom of Scotia, Linda (Cliff) Stone of Holiday, FL, Diana (Roger) Lawton of Rotterdam; step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and half-brother, Richard Siebeking of Saugerties. Funeral services will begin at 9 a.m. on Monday, July 23, 2012 at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd., East Glenville, and will be followed at 10 a.m. by a celebration of Dee's life at the First Reformed Church of Scotia, 224 Ballston Ave. Interment will take place in Memory Gardens, Watervliet Shaker Rd., Albany, NY. Calling hours will be 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 22, 2012 at the funeral home.
