Donald Ashley Bush Town of MoreauDonald Ashley Bush, 91, passed away after a short illness at Glens Falls Hospital while surrounded by his loving family. Don was born on February 23, 1922 in Glens Falls, son of Harry and Elsie A. (Reynolds) Bush. A graduate of South Glens Falls High School, Donald attended Machinist GE Apprenticeship in Schenectady, NY. He was a machinist tool and dye maker, retiring from Albany Engineered Systems in 1983. During WWII he served in the United States Marine Corps in the South Pacific Theatre, stationed in Kwajalein as a communications specialist. His favorite part, getting a chance to fly occasionally with a friend. On July 24, 1948, Don married his partner for life, Vivian Christopher, who happened to be the New Third Grade Teacher at Spring Street School, SGF. They enjoyed 65 years of marriage, Side by Side. Don always enjoyed music, including playing his trumpet, which accompanied him throughout his entire tour of duty with the Marines. Later in life his love of music continued as he and Vivian introduced the World of Marionettes to young children. He loved the outdoorshiking, camping, gardening, and ice skating. Don also enjoyed riding his motorcycle, watching and feeding the birds, as well as going to hockey games. A special joy in his life were his three grandsons, sharing so many common interests with each one. Don was a faithful, active, longtime member of the Fortsville United Methodist Church. He was predeceased by his parents, Harry and Elsie Bush, and his sister, Doris Thomson. Donald is survived by his wife, Vivian; daughters, Betty (Robert) Heitmann, Waterloo, NY and Christine (Michael) Levo, South Glens Falls, NY; grandsons, Daniel (Esther) Levo, Town of Moreau, NY, Timothy Levo (fiancee, Justina Deary), Ingleside, IL and Richard Levo, South Glens Falls, NY; sister, Barbara Blackwood, Dunnellon, FL; nieces and nephews, Pat Prutsman, South Glens Falls, NY, Bill (Linda) Thomson, Queensbury, NY, Stacey (Jim) Sheldon, Constantia, NY, Scott (Laurie) Blackwood, Whitesburg, GA, Peter (Tina) Blackwood, Canandaigua, NY; special brothers-in-law, Victor Christopher and Eugene Christopher, Broadalbin, NY. Family and friends are welcome to calling hours Tuesday, July 23 from 6 to 8 p.m. at M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 136 Main Street, South Glens Falls, NY.
