Dorothy Mele Amond Schenectady Dorothy B. Amond, 91, passed away Tuesday at Ellis Hospital after a brief illness, surrounded by her loving family. Dorothy was born in Schenectady, a daughter of the late Antonio and Concetta Ferro Mele. She graduated from Nott Terrace High School. Dorothy owned and operated Mele's Grocery Store in the Stockade for many years. She later worked for the City of Schenectady as an administrative clerk for the Water Department, retiring after years of dedicated service. Dorothy loved bowling, she belonged to a league at Sportsman with her siblings and family for the past 40 years. She was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church. Dorothy was predeceased by her beloved husband, Hubert Amond, after 46 years of marriage, in 1994; and her seven siblings. She is survived by her loving children, Linda Amond, James Amond and his wife, Faithann, Jean Mineconzo and her husband, Michael and Bobbie Mizener and her husband, Mark; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survive. Services will be held Friday morning at 8 a.m. at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, Union at N. Jay Streets, and then to St. John The Evangelist Church, Union Street, where a Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Interment will follow in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
