Irene P. McKee RotterdamIrene Veronica Pogorzelski McKee of Rotter- dam, NY passed away on March 19, 2013. Irene was born in Sche- nectady, NY on March 22, 1929 to Maryan and Ida Pogorzelski. She graduated from Mont Pleasant High School. She worked for several years at Barney's and Carl Company and also as a secre- tary for the International Gen- eral Electric. In June 1952 she married John H. McKee of Niskayuna, NY and devoted her life to her marriage and family for the next 60 1/2 years. Irene was involved through- out her life in many church ac- tivities, worked as secretary for Trinity Reformed Church for several years, was a member of Hix & Chix square dancing group, and was a talented and avid bowler whenever possible. She enjoyed playing cards of any kind and loved to win. She spent many hours reading and loved spending time at her Sacandaga Lake camp with her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends. Irene is survived by her husband, John (Jack) McKee; her four children, John (Cindy) McKee, Janet (Bruce) Lichtenwalter, Kevin (Deborah) McKee, and Elizabeth (Rick) Shafer; her grandchildren, John McKee, Jennifer Sullivan, Kelly (Michael) Wilbur, Rebecca (Chris) Gwaltney, Gabrielle (Eric) Hoffman, Anna McKee, Margaret McKee, Thomas (Martha) Shafer and Daniel Shafer; her great-grandchildren, Lana Sullivan, Harmony Wilbur, Emily Sullivan,Connor Gwaltney, Liliana Hoffman and Avery Hoffman; her sisters, Ann (Reno) Bailoni and Veronica Thomson; and her brothers, Stanley (Joyce) Pogorzelski and Edmund (Eleanor) Pogorzelski. Irene was predeceased by her sister, Wanda Sindoni. Irene will be greatly missed, but we praise God for her life and are thankful she is at home with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Calling hours will be at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home on Helderberg Ave. in Rotter- dam on Thursday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at the Lighthouse Baptist Church at 2919 West Lydius Street in Rotterdam at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 22nd. The interment will be at Schenectady Memorial Park Cemetery and a fellowship meal will be held following the interment at the Lighthouse Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in her name to the Schenectady City Mission.
