Laura-jean Hoose Obituary
Laura-jean Hoose, a longtime resident of Spring Meadows Apartments in the village, passed on Sunday, May 13, at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady. She was 83.Laura was born in Mount Pleasant (Westchester County) on March 14, 1935, the daughter of the late Legrand and Hazel (Johnson) Broadhead. When she was younger, Laura worked on the family dairy farm while raising her children. Later, after her children were older, she was a nurse's aide at the former Haven Manor Adult Home in Cobleskill and a housekeeper at the Rainbow Lodge in Berne. She was of the protestant faith and had attended services at several of the local churches.She was predeceased by her husband, Roscoe Hoose, in 1996.Survivors include a daughter, Debra (John) Bellinger; six sons, Jeff, Tim (Sarah), Roscoe (Linda), Todd (Tysha), Wayne (Rita), and Tom (Valerie); a brother, Lee Broadhead Jr.; three sisters, Lisa, Barbara and Carol; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.She was predeceased by a daughter, Judy in 1963; a grandson; Ryan in 1999; and a great-grandson, Keegan.A service will be held 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 17, at Lappeus Funeral Home, Sharon Springs. Visitation is 10 to 11:30 prior to the service. Interment will follow in New Scotland Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff at Cardiac Associates and Ellis Hospital A-4 C-1 for providing special care to Laura-jean.Memorial contributions may be made to the Sharon Springs Vol. Rescue Squad, POB 154, Sharon Springs NY 13459.
