Lorraine Deptola Jankowski SchenectadyLorraine Deptola Jankowski, 80, of Waverly Place, passed away on Sunday, November 18, 2012. Born in Schenectady, NY, she is the daughter of the late Leon and Estelle Deptola. She was a graduate of Nott Terrace High School and Albany Business College. Lorraine and her dad, Leo, owned and operated Deptola's Meat and Grocery on Eastern Ave. for over 30 years. She then was employed by Union College as a food buyer. She was a member of the former St. Mary's Church, bowled with the Annie Schaffer Seniors, and participated in many senior activities at the center. Lorraine loved going to her camp on Sacandaga Lake, she enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Stanley Jankowski, whom she married on May 6, 1956 in St. Mary's Church, and her children, Lorraine and Gregory Jankowski. Lorraine is survived by her children, Karen Continelli, Diane (John) VanDenburgh, Eileen (Steven) Hay, Jennifer (Douglas) Brunette; grandchildren, Lorie Continelli, Jessica Below, Dan, Marie, and Katie VanDenburgh, Meghan Hay, Charlotte and Miranda Brunette. She is also survived by cousins and her sisters-in-law. Calling hours will be held Friday, November 23, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Kazyaka Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church.
