Mary E. Collamer ScotiaMary Elizabeth Collamer, age 89, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at her residence. Mary was born on January 11, 1925 to the late Lycurgus Walton Bill Richardson and Marie Thérèse Maurer Richardson and lived her childhood in Scotia. She began her college career at Cornell University, but during WWII decided to switch to Purdue University. There she took a drafting course and upon completion, she was sent to Columbus, OH. In Columbus she worked for Curtiss-Wright Aircraft Corp. drafting parts for Navy fighter planes. After the war she went back to Purdue and studied aeronautical engineering. On July 5, 1947 she married Charles E. Collamer, and she worked for the General Electric Co. in Schenectady as a draftsman. Mary was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing, reading, gardening and taking care of her children and grandchildren. She happily volunteered at her children's school and their Scout troops. She was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Scotia. Beloved wife of 66 years to Charles E. Collamer; loving mother of Lawrence Collamer and his wife, Pam of Denton, TX, James Collamer of West Galway and Susan Van Patten and her husband, Donald of Ballston Spa; cherished grandmother of Cassandra, Nathan, Christina, Stacy, Sean, Jacob and Joshua; great-grandmother of Nicolas; sister of Joan Richardson of Loudon, TN, and the late Ann Richardson Wilson. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday, April 25, 2014 at St. Joseph's Church, 231 Second St. Scotia. The family will receive visitors at the church Friday 9 to 10 a.m. before the service.
