Maryn Beth Wheeler Surrey AmsterdamMaryn Beth Wheeler Surrey, 47, passed away peacefully Monday morning at the Hospice Inn of St. Peter's Hospital. Her loving family was at her side. Born June 29, 1966, in Peekskill, NY, she lived her childhood in Lake Peekskill, NY, Bangor, ME, Rensselaer, NY and Amsterdam, NY. She graduated high school from Doane Stuart School in Albany. Maryn studied art at Arizona State University in Flagstaff and New York Institute of Techology in Islip, New York. She graduated from the Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts and was an executive pastry chef at restaurants in Pasadena and Hollywood, CA. Maryn had a wonderful warm, kind and loving spirit. She added joy to our lives and used her creative flair to create fantastic culinary treats. Maryn made us laugh with her famously quirky sense of humor. She has been extraordinary in her ability to maintain a positive and hopeful attitude in confronting pancreatic cancer for over two years. She leaves behind her three loving children, Ellen, Alexander, and Elliot of La Crescenta, CA; her parents, Rev. Dan and Marilyn Wheeler of Scotia, NY; her brother, Dan Jr. and sister-in-law, Michele and nephews, Jonathan, Andrew, and Jacob of Guilderland, NY; her sister, Jen and brother-in-law, Mark and nephews, Noah and Carter; niece, Jes and nephew, Jake of Amsterdam, NY; and her loving aunts, uncles and cousins. Private family funeral will take place at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam with burial at Fairview Cemetery. The family thanks the doctors, nurses and staff of NYOH of Albany, St. Peter's Hospital and The Community Hospice for their exceptional care and the numerous family and friends that have prayed for and supported Maryn and her family through her journey.
