Peter B. DiCarlo Saratoga SpringsPeter B. DiCarlo died on March 16, 2013 surrounded by his family after a brief ill- ness. Born in 1948 in Bal- sorano, Italy, he is the son of the late Maria Luigina and Francesco Di- Carlo. Peter im- migrated in 1955 to Schenectady, NY where he grew up and graduated from Linton High School. During the Vietnam War he was in the U.S Air Force and served as an air traffic controller stationed in Ipswich, England. Peter moved to Saratoga Springs where he met Leslie, who later became his wife. Soon after their mar- riage, they moved to Washing- ton, D.C. where Peter ran the office of an investment firm and made lifelong friends. Peter and Leslie returned to Saratoga Springs where he was actively involved in the local business community having re- stored and run The Springwa- ter Inn, The Saratoga City Tav- ern and most recently, built and ran The Springwater Bed & Breakfast. In addition, Peter found time to become a co-founder of S.L.O.G. Peter enjoyed golfing with the Methodist Church golf league. Because of his back- ground in the hospitality field, he was also an accomplished cook and gracious host, wel- coming all into his life with an infectious smile, great humor, compassion, and genuine affec- tion. He spent many hours re- storing his classic wooden boat. Most of all he found his greatest pleasure in family. Ha veramente apprezzato le cose semplici della vita. (He truly appreciated the simple things in life). He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Leslie; his children, Cristina and Matthew of Sara- toga Springs; his sisters, Carol Ferrari (Vincent) of Schenec- tady; Silvana Spenduti (Remo) of Sora, Italy; his sisters-in-law, Meredith Vanden-Handel and Lenore Vanden-Handel; and his mother-in-law, Lyn Van- den-Handel. He was prede- ceased by his sister, Marie Struffolino (Ralph). A Requiem Eucharist will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2013 at Bethesda Episcopal Church, Washington St., Saratoga Springs. The fami- ly would like to welcome and meet with everyone at the Par- ish House following the serv- ice. In lieu of flowers, Peter's wish was that donations be made to the Saratoga Hospital, Intensive Care Unit, 211 Church St., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866, where he received such exceptional care. Arrangements are under the direction of the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cun- niff Funeral Homes of 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs.
