Raymond 'Ray' Derkowski RotterdamRaymond Ray Derkowski, 67, of Rotterdam, NY, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, March 19, 2014 at Ellis Hospital. Born in Schenectady, NY to Ignatius Iggy and Adeline Derkowski. After graduating from Mont Pleasant High School, he enlisted in the Air Force as a mechanic, he served in Turkey and at Andrews AFB where he worked on Air Force One. After his enlistment, he returned to Schenectady to work at GE as a steam turbine machinist. Ray is survived by his son, Stephen Derkowski; his daughter, Amy (Michael) Eggleston; his grandchildren, Christopher Derkowski, Brittany Eggleston, Raymond Derkowski and Nicholas Derkowski. He is also survived by his siblings, Ellie Moulton, Dorothy (Bob) Leopold, and Tom Derkowski; along with many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 23, 2014 from 2 until 4 p.m. at the Bekkering-Ellis Funeral Home, 1 Mohawk Ave., Scotia, NY. Interment with military honors will be held on the grounds of the Saratoga National Cemetery, at the convenience of the family.
