Thomas Ronald Poirier SchenectadyThomas Ron Poirier, 82, died at his home, Thursday, December 20, 2012, surrounded by his wife and eight children. He was born in Utica, NY on September 20, 1930, the son of the late Thomas and Dorothy nee: Grems Poirier. A graduate of St. Francis de Sales High School, Utica, NY, he enlisted in the Air Force serving in the Korean War. A resident of Schenectady, NY since 1953, he was in the printing business for many years before he and his wife started their own company, Banner Business, Inc. of Schenectady. He was a longtime parishioner of St. Paul the Apostle Church in Schenectady. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Elaine nee: Locey Poirier; his eight children, Thomas Poirier of Concord, NH, Vincent Poirier of Schenectady, Michele (George) Arnold of Potsdam, NY, Lanette (James) Lynes of Martinsburg, West Virginia, Richard (Barbara) Poirier of Glenville, Suzanne (David) McClaughlin of Scotia, Patrice Zampella of Scotia and Therese (James) Del Monico of Myrtle Beach, SC; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandsons; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Griswold Funeral Home, 1867 State St., Schenectady followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at a time to be announced. Interment will be private at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Schenectady. The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday from 8:30 until 10:30 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
