William 'Bill' Alfred Washburn GloversvilleWilliam Bill Alfred Washburn, 62, of Gloversville, passed away on December 24, 2012. Born on May 11, 1950, Bill was a lifelong resident of Gloversville and son of the late Alfred and Beverly Washburn. An avid outdoorsman, Bill enjoyed hunting and fishing his entire life. He loved to tell a good story or engage in a worthy debate and was always willing to help those in need. Bill enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was previously a member of Adirondack Conservation Council and was an active member of The Eccentric Club for many years. Other than the two year commitment Bill made to the National Guard from 1970-1972, Bill worked alongside his business partner, Richard Butch Washburn, and a loyal family of employees to become the third generation of his family to own and manage Washburn's Dairy, 145 Main Street, Gloversville, New York. Bill will be deeply missed by his wife, Carolyn Washburn of Gloversville, whom he married in 1996 as well as his two children, Melissa Washburn (Adam) of Valpariso, Indiana, Michael Washburn of Phoenix, Arizona; and two stepchildren, Michelle Hoffman (Tod) of Manlius, New York and Duane Couture of Brooklyn, New York; three grandchildren, Lily, Will and Lauren; and four siblings, Elmer Washburn (Susan) and John Washburn (Julie) of Gloversville, Barbara Carney of Utica, New York, and Mary Grace (Mike) of Lake Monticello, Virginia. Calling hours will be held on Friday, December 28, 2012, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Finocan's Funeral Home, 13 Prospect Street, Gloversville, New York. A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, December 29, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the (www.lung.org) or a charity of your personal choosing.
