William J. Gutowski Obituary
Mr. William J. Gutowski, 88, of Amsterdam, New York, passed away peacefully Saturday, June 9, 2018 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, New York.He was born January 9, 1930 in Amsterdam, New York, a son of the late William and Jennie Gutowski. A lifelong resident, he was a graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School – Class of 1949.Mr. Gutowski served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He was employed for over 39 years as a Gas Supervisor with Niagara Mohawk, now known as National Grid, before retiring.Bill was a member of St. Casimir's Roman Catholic Church, until its closing. Currently, he was a member of St. Stanislaus Church. He also enjoyed bowling and golfing in the Niagara Mohawk League.His idea of paradise was spending time at his summer home on Sacandaga Lake. He enjoyed spending time with his family and loved the holidays. His favorite time of year was Christmas. During those times he touched many people with his warm and generous personality. One of his motto's was "A seeing eye and a hearing ear".On September 16, 1956 he was united in marriage to Jean S. Alex Gutowski, who survives. He is also survived by his children, Jennifer Allen, Amsterdam, New York and Jeffrey (Ruth Anne) Gutowski, New Hampton, New York; grandchildren, Jon Bain (Kristen), Ryan Paris and Erik Gutowski; brother, Edward (Phyllis) Gutowski, Texas; sister-in-law, Lee Gutowski; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; Sacandaga Park neighbors; and dear friends, Ambrosino Family, Zielinski Family, Hardies Family, Finlay Family and Michaels Family.He was predeceased by his brothers, Alexander, Henry, Casimir and Boles Gutowski; and by his sister, Josephine Peters.The family would like to express their appreciation to Bill's medical team including Dr. Goslin, Drs. Mayer and Cope and Dr. Bart Barlogie.A prayer service will be held at 10:15 a.m., Thursday, June 14, 2018 at the Jendrzejczak Funeral Home, 200 Church Street, Amsterdam, New York, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Church, Cornell Street, with Rev. O. Robert De Martinis, Celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Casimir's Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at the funeral home.Memorial contributions may be made to the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute, UAMS (University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences), 4301 W. Markham Street, #623F, Little Rock, AR 72205.
