Eleanor D. Sanes Cobleskill Eleanor D. Sanes, 88 of Early Woodland Apartments, died Wednesday, February 12th at her home under the care of her loving daughter, son-in-law and Hospice following a brief illness. Mrs. Sanes was born April 16, 1925 in Brooklyn, NY, a daughter of Samuel and Sarah (Shapiro) Siegel. Eleanor graduated in 1941 from the Erasmus Hall School in Brooklyn and spent most of her life in the metropolitan area of New York. She was the bookkeeper for her husbands' business; International Plate Service in Manhattan for many years along with being a successful homemaker providing for her family. She was an avid Bridge player and a civil rights and animal rights activist along with enjoying the fine arts including the theatre, music and art. Mrs. Sanes married the love of her life, Richard I. Sanes on March 19, 1950. After their retirement, they enjoyed life in southern California until Richard's passing on April 1, 2012 when she then relocated to Cobleskill. Survivors include her children, Noah Sanes of Los Angeles, CA and Roberta (Jim) Brooks of Richmondville; her loving grandson, Michael Brooks; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, William and Frances Sanes of Florida; along with several beloved cousins and nephews. As per Eleanor's wishes and that of her family, there will be no formal services. Following cremation, her remains will be inurned along with her husband at Pinelawn National Cemetery, Pinelawn, Long Island.
